Yamaha DVDS557 DVD Player is a new release from Yamaha. 
The unit comes in black as well as silver colour with dimensions of 43.5 x 5.1 x 31cms and weighs about 2.6kg.
The CD formats supported by the device are DVD Video, VCD, SVCD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD (Audio), CD-R, CD-RW and Picture CD. Progressive scan facility is featured in this device. The file formats playable by this device are DivX, WMA, MP3 and JPEG. Tracks that are played in this device can be repeated and shuffled with its titles displayed.
A standard remote control is provided along with the device. The picture that is viewed by the device can be controlled using the contrast, brightness and zoom functions. It supports PAL and NTSC video output systems. This Yamaha DVD player has also got a 12 bit/108 MHz video DAC and a 24 bit/192 kHz Audio DAC with an audio S/N ratio of 105 dB. It also provides Virtual, Dolby Digital as well as DTS surround system. Media is played in the TV with resolutions of 480i, 480p, 576i and 576p. The player also supports languages English, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Danish for menu display.
The connection ports behind the device include SCART, Composite, S-Video, Component, RGB (via SCART), Analog Audio, Digital Audio Coaxial and Digital Audio Optical connectors.
Extra features included in this device are on screen display, front panel LED display dimmer, 40 disc parental lock memory, night mode dynamic range compression, contrast, tint, colour, brightness controls. Parental Lock is also setup in this device.
